Player base stats
Stats
One class (magician) with several build paths defined by stat weighting, spell preference, and risk profile rather than by hard subclasses.
STR affects physical damage and some magical weapon scaling, DEX affects hit chance, dodge, and some projectile spells, INT is the main spell-power stat and also boosts mana, and VIT increases max health and resistances.
HP should derive from VIT, mana from INT, and that level-ups grant fixed HP/mana gains plus free stat points, which makes stat-driven build identity a natural system.
- INT as the main damage stat for most spell builds.
- VIT as the survival stat for defense and HP cost spells.
- DEX for mobility, hit consistency.
- STR mainly for melee-magic hybrids and magical weapon users.
Choosable paths
| Path | Fantasy | Best stats | Playstyle |
|---|---|---|---|
| Arcane Sorcerer | Pure spellcaster | INT > VIT > DEX > STR | High mana, high spell damage, fragile backline caster. |
| War Mage | Battle caster | INT > STR > VIT > DEX | Uses magic in close range with magical weapons and tougher gear choices. |
| Spellslinger | Fast projectile caster | DEX > INT > VIT > STR | Mobile kiting build focused on accuracy, dodge, and rapid ranged pressure. |
| Blood Magus | Risk-reward caster | INT > VIT > DEX > STR | Uses health-cost spells, lifesteal, curses, and wants enough VIT to survive self-drain. |
| Frost Weaver | Control mage | INT > VIT > DEX > STR | Focuses on slows, roots, debuffs, and safe pacing rather than burst damage. |
| Pyromancer | AoE destroyer | INT > DEX > VIT > STR | Leans into fire damage, burn, and explosive room clearing, but benefits from repositioning tools. |
Stat guidance
Arcane Sorcerer is the default “pure sorcerer” path. It should stack INT first for spell damage and mana, then VIT so the player does not implode from low survivability; this is the cleanest glass-cannon archetype.
War Mage should be the melee-range hybrid. The game supports STR/INT mixed battlemage play with melee-oriented magical weapons, this path should prioritize INT first, STR second, then enough VIT to survive front-line combat.
Spellslinger is a DEX-leaning projectile caster. This build should value DEX highly for dodge, hit chance, and projectile synergy, while still keeping INT high enough that spells remain threatening.
Blood Magus fits in the blood school especially well because those spells use health costs, lifesteal, and curses. That means INT still drives power, but VIT becomes unusually important because HP is both defense and part of the casting economy.
Frost Weaver works as the safe, tactical build. Frost has lower raw damage but stronger utility and control, so this path benefits from INT for potency and VIT for consistency in longer fights.
Pyromancer is an aggressive room-clear option. Fire is described as high damage, burn-heavy, and often AoE-based, so INT is primary, while DEX helps with repositioning and keeping distance during explosive but vulnerable casts.
Recommended ratios
| Path | Suggestions |
|---|---|
| Arcane Sorcerer | 50% INT, 25% VIT, 15% DEX, 10% STR |
| War Mage | 40% INT, 25% STR, 25% VIT, 10% DEX. |
| Spellslinger | 35% DEX, 35% INT, 20% VIT, 10% STR |
| Blood Magus | 40% INT, 30% VIT, 20% DEX, 10% STR |
| Frost Weaver | 40% INT, 30% VIT, 20% DEX, 10% STR |
| Pyromancer | 45% INT, 25% DEX, 20% VIT, 10% STR |
Best implementation
The cleanest design is to keep CharacterStats generic and let the chosen path act as a recommended allocation profile, not a locked class.
The GDD emphasizes replayability through different builds, spell schools, and free stat distribution, so players should be able to start as “War Mage” or “Arcane Sorcerer” for guidance while still respec-freeform through gear and manual point spending.
